A Welsh coffee roastery is helping four FareShare Cymru Community Food Members make a difference. Through a generous donation, Ferrari’s Coffee is helping bring people together across South Wales.
At FareShare Cymru, we know that food is about more than what’s on the plate. It brings people together, creates opportunities for connection and helps build stronger communities.
That’s why we’re delighted to be working with Ferrari’s Coffee, a Welsh coffee roastery based in Bridgend. The business has donated four filter coffee machines to our Community Food Members. In addition, Ferrari’s is supplying free coffee and cups through FareShare Cymru deliveries.
As a result, four community organisations across South Wales can offer refreshments to the people who use their services.
The recipients are Emmaus South Wales in Bridgend, Maes-Y-Dderwen Independent Living in Nelson, the Huggard Centre in Cardiff and BARC Family Centre in Maesteg.
This partnership shows how local businesses can use their resources to support organisations at the heart of their communities.
A Welsh roastery with a passion for coffee and community
Ferrari’s Coffee has a long history in Wales, dating back to 1927. Based in Bridgend, the roastery has been bringing coffee to customers for generations.
When Yash and Rakhi discovered the opportunity to take on Ferrari’s, they believed in the business and its potential. They moved to Wales to revive the roastery and bring the coffee brand into its next chapter.
Today, they’re continuing Ferrari’s legacy while finding new ways to connect with their local community. Their support for FareShare Cymru reflects this commitment, helping four community organisations offer something extra to the people they support.
If you’re in Bridgend, you can also visit Ferrari’s Roastery. There, you can buy coffee and discover more about the business.
A message from Ferrari’s Coffee
When someone is experiencing homelessness, life can feel relentlessly stripped of everyday joys. A really good cup of coffee isn’t an indulgence it’s an act of respect and care that says, ‘you matter.’ That’s why Ferrari’s Coffee has committed to an ongoing donation of quality coffee through FareShare Cymru. Strong communities look after their own, and by maintaining a steady supply to local frontline shelters and outreach hubs, we hope to ensure people facing tough times across South Wales can count on warmth, hospitality, and a welcoming brew every single day.

Supporting four community organisations
Each of our Community Food Members provides valuable support in its local area. Their work ranges from supporting people experiencing homelessness to helping families and promoting independent living.
Here’s a closer look at the four organisations benefiting from Ferrari’s donation.
Emmaus South Wales, Bridgend
Emmaus South Wales supports people who have experienced homelessness and social exclusion. It provides accommodation, meaningful activities and opportunities to develop new skills.
Through its community, people can build relationships and gain confidence. Meanwhile, its social enterprises offer practical experience and opportunities to contribute.
By combining accommodation with ongoing support, Emmaus helps people work towards greater independence and a positive future.
Maes-Y-Dderwen Independent Living, Nelson
Maes-Y-Dderwen Independent Living supports people through its independent living scheme. It provides an environment where clients can access support and spend time with others.
Social interaction plays an important role in helping people feel connected. Since receiving Ferrari’s donation, the team has already noticed a positive difference.

One member of staff shared:
“I would like to say a huge thank you for nominating Maes-Y-Dderwen for the coffee machine. The clients absolutely love it and are engaging more on scheme, which is what we like to see!”
Maes-Y-Dderwen Independent Living
It’s lovely to hear how much the machine is being enjoyed. More importantly, the feedback shows how a simple addition can encourage people to spend more time together.
The Huggard Centre, Cardiff

The Huggard Centre provides vital support to people experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping in Cardiff. Its work helps people access essential services and practical support, while offering opportunities to work towards greater stability and independence.
The centre can serve up to 200 cups of tea and coffee every day, highlighting the important role that hot drinks play in its daily support for people experiencing homelessness.
Alongside its wider services, the Huggard provides a place where people can access support and spend time in a welcoming environment. Its work demonstrates the importance of meeting immediate needs while helping people move towards a more secure future.
BARC Family Centre, Maesteg
BARC Family Centre supports families in the Maesteg community, providing a space where parents, carers and children can access activities, support and opportunities to connect with others.
Family and community centres play an important role in bringing people together, helping families build relationships and providing a welcoming environment in which they can access support.
Through its work, BARC helps create opportunities for families to spend time together, connect with their local community and access support in a friendly setting.
The practical impact of the donation
The partnership provides more than four pieces of equipment. Alongside the filter coffee machines, Ferrari’s is supplying free coffee and cups through FareShare Cymru deliveries, helping all four organisations continue to offer refreshments to the people who visit their services.
For community organisations working with limited resources, practical contributions like these provide additional support for their day-to-day work.
The impact can be seen in different ways across the four organisations. At Maes-Y-Dderwen, staff have already reported that clients love the new coffee machine and are engaging more on the scheme. At the Huggard Centre, where up to 200 cups of tea and coffee can be served each day, refreshments are an important part of the centre’s daily support.
Together, these examples show how a practical donation can complement the work of community organisations, helping them create welcoming spaces and support the people who rely on their services.
The wider FareShare Cymru partnership
At FareShare Cymru, we work with businesses, food producers and other partners to redistribute good-to-eat surplus food to community organisations across Wales.
Our Community Food Members turn that support into practical help for people in their local areas, from providing food to creating welcoming spaces where people can access services and build relationships.
Ferrari’s Coffee’s contribution shows how businesses can support this work in different ways. While surplus food remains at the heart of what we do, donations of equipment and everyday essentials can complement the food our members receive and help them make the most of their community spaces.
By supporting four organisations across South Wales, Ferrari’s is helping strengthen the network of community support that FareShare Cymru works alongside every day.
We hope this partnership will inspire other Welsh businesses to consider how their products, expertise or resources could benefit community organisations in their area.
Brewing stronger community connections
This partnership is a reminder that meaningful support does not always have to be complicated. Sometimes, it starts with a practical donation, a shared commitment to local communities and a willingness to help.
From Bridgend to Cardiff, Maesteg and Nelson, Ferrari’s Coffee is helping four FareShare Cymru Community Food Members create more welcoming experiences for the people they support.
A huge thank you to Yash and Rakhi and everyone at Ferrari’s Coffee for their generosity, and to our Community Food Members for the work they do to support people and strengthen communities across Wales.
Together, we can make a difference through the food we share, the partnerships we build and the everyday moments that help people feel connected.
